Los Angeles Beaches

Hermosa Beach
It’s party time at Hermosa Beach, which is sandwiched between South Bay and Redondo beaches. LA’s most celebrated beach is the place to socialize and people watch. It is always thriving with beach sports, including volleyball.

Long Beach
Long Beach, which extends five miles along the Pacific Coast, is one of LA’s largest seashores. This beach community has its own airport. Visitors can catch rides to Catalina Island from this beach.

Malibu
Surf’s up at Malibu Beach, where the tides bring in die-hard wave busters. Los Angeles’ most northerly beach is a peaceful refuge that is known for its hillside celebrity mansions.

Redondo
Bicyclists, joggers and surfers crowd Redondo Beach, which is just south King Harbor, along South Esplanade Drive. Beach amenities include rest rooms and volleyball courts. Lifeguards are on duty also.

Santa Monica
Easy access and snow-white colored sand describe Santa Monica Beach. Its pier is a world-famous landmark. An amusement park, Pacific Park, also draws crowds of eager tourists to this beach area. Restaurants and old video arcades line the shore of Santa Monica, LA’s liveliest beach. Follow Colorado Boulevard to the Pier.

Venice
Bohemian Venice beach is a colorful retreat for art lovers. Enjoy the talented performances of streetside entertainers while walking its boardwalk. The newly renovated boardwalk includes a children's play area, a repaved bicycle path, new lighting and pagodas, and a newly designed plaza at its main Windward Avenue entrance. Men and women tend to congregate at Muscle Beach to see male and female weight lifters flex under the sun.

Will Rogers State Beach
Visitors of the famous Will Rogers State Historic Park can hear the crashing waves of this scenic beach. Parking lots line Will Rogers State Beach, which features rest rooms and lifeguards. Swimmers like to dive into the alluring waves of this beach, which is located between Sunset Boulevard and the Santa Monica border. Will Rogers State Beach, which is a great spot for a sunset stroll or a mid-day picnic, has provided a backdrop for televisions “Baywatch.”
