Welcome to Los Angeles Hotels and Resorts, California!
Riches, glamour, fame, and sunshine are words that come to mind when people think about the Los Angeles
(or LA) lifestyle. Some may not intend to attain these exploits of life; they just want to experience
them for a brief period. The sophistication of palm-strewn Beverly Hills, the magnetism of celebrities
and Hollywood, and the energy along the sidewalks of the celebrated Sunset Strip make the Los Angeles
area a high-priority tourist destination. Vacationers can't resist its appeal, or the hype that
exists there. After all, the busy metropolis is known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”
Amusing visitors comes easy for LA since it's a gateway to Disneyland and the home of world-class
beaches and shopping venues, a leading film industry, celebrity-owned nightclubs and restaurants, and the
Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers. Come and vacation among the rich and famous during a weeklong getaway in
Los Angeles, the nation's second-largest city after New York. Los Angeles hotels offer so many lodging
options, so visitors may choose to sample Hollywood's lavish lifestyle or settle in more affordable
accommodations.
Visiting Los Angeles
Mexican settlers first called the city El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Angeles de
Porciuncula (the Town of Our Lady Queen of the Angels of Porciuncula). Eventually, that name was simplified
to Los Angeles and then admiringly to just LA. Los Angeles has acquired other nicknames throughout the years,
but the short and catchy “LA” better fits the image of this entertainment mecca. Pursuers of fame,
fortune, or just a new life chase their dreams to LA. Sometimes the dream is just to vacation along its sparkling
76-mile-long coastline, which stretches from Malibu to Long Beach. Tourism is among LA's top money-makers
(the business management, computer programming, health and legal services, international trading and entertainment
industries are the others). Most visitors stampede into the city during the sizzling summer; however, it is best to
tour Los Angeles during the winter. It's less crowded, cooler, and hotel rates are lower then. Temperatures
can climb as high as 80 degrees during the winter, even in January. As for transportation, driving a car is the best
way to tackle Los Angeles' urban sprawl; taxis are too expensive. A short trip by taxi can cost at least $10. |
